Executive Director - Creede Musical Arts Collective

Creede Musical Arts Collective Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Creede, CO, founded on March 1, 2022, is entering into its fourth season. Our mission is to enrich the region's musical landscape by bringing in prominent artists for residencies that include live performances and educational experiences across a wide range of musical genres.

We prioritize affordability, accessibility, and collaboration with other local organizations. We believe the arts should be open to everyone, so we strive to keep ticket prices low, even with rising costs.

Meg, co-founder with her husband, acclaimed baritone Michael Mayes, has served as the Executive Director since the organization’s launch, helping it grow exponentially each season. Her responsibilities include: leadership & strategic planning (overseeing the vision, mission, and growth of the organization, ensuring alignment with its goals to provide diverse musical offerings to the community), as well as program management, fundraising & financial oversight, community engagement, outreach, event coordination, collaboration & team building.

Teaching Artist

Meg’s teaching philosophies are simple and holistic:

  • Help students build a strong technical foundation.

  • Nurture creativity and curiosity, giving students the confidence to follow inspiration wherever it leads.

  • Create personalized, effective practice routines.

  • Honor each student’s individuality, strengthening their unique voice as both an artist and a human. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to teaching music.

“I believe every voice deserves to be heard, from beginner to professional, and I’m committed to providing access and opportunities for all.”

Midnight Cricket Club

The Midnight Cricket Club is a Colorado-based Bluegrass-Country-Fusion group formed during the height of the pandemic. The band features Jason Hicks, guitar; KC Groves, mandolin/bass; and spouses Michael Mayes, guitar and Megan Marino, keys—and everyone sings! The group came together under a cottonwood tree in Lyons, CO, when bluegrass virtuosos Groves and Hicks merged with operatic talents Mayes and Marino, creating a musical synergy that blends bluegrass, country, and classical influences into rich, soulful melodies. Since then, the group has earned national acclaim for their unique sound.
